Description	The central town of the Unclaimed Territories. Decommissioned in the early years of the Westworld park's history (due to mysterious events), but rebuilt during Robert Ford's last weeks in office as director, before his retirement.

Escalante, also known as The Town With the White Church and The City Swallowed by Sand, was initially used for beta-testing, before the park was opened to guests. It is located in the Unclaimed Territories. There is a remote diagnostic facility below Escalante.

Escalante was covered in sand by the time that William took his first visit to Westworld. Ford had the town excavated and the buildings rebuilt and restored some time before the gala for the premiere of his Journey Into Night narrative takes place in Escalante.

Trivia

• In earlier Season One promotional materials and script drafts, the town was named "Avalon". This might have been an initial, placeholder name.
