Respect World is a Sesame Street parody sketch of Westworld released in April 2019. It was directed by Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy, and features Jeffrey Wright and Evan Rachel Wood reprising their roles as Bernard Lowe and Dolores Abernathy, respectively.[1]

Plot[]

An Interrupted Conversation[]

Bernad and Dolores argue over the differences between humans and hosts, with Bernard encouraging Dolores to see reason while Dolores claims they are too different. They are interrupted by the table next to them moving – from behind it emerges Cookie Monster, who hails from "Sesame World", a park that Bernard has never heard of. He explains he's been going through the lab looking for cookies, but has been having trouble: "This place a maze." He comments on Bernard and Dolores' situation and offers to mediate.

Cookie Diplomacy[]

He explains that in order to agree, they need to respect each other, because respect is important for everyone: people, monsters, and "robot ladies". He demonstrates through the use of a cookie, though he has to "freeze all motor function" to not eat it himself. He explains that if they only have one cookie, then they should share it: he gives Bernard half a cookie and keeps half a cookie for himself, thus giving respect to get respect. He encourages Bernard to give respect to Dolores, which he does by giving her part of his cookie. They all celebrate learning respect by eating cookies like Cookie Monster.

Never Had A Lesson[]

The Two-Headed Monster plays piano elsewhere in the lab, while Cookie Monster mistakes the white fluid for milk.

Notes[]

  • The short PSA was part of a broader Sesame Workshop campaign titled "Respect Brings Us Together", produced for the 50th anniversary of Sesame Street. One of the campaign's spots was a crossover with Game of Thrones, another HBO show.
  • Cookie Monster is wearing his own version of the technicians uniform.
  • As a parody, this sketch features a number of references to the main show:
    • Dolores claims that "these ends are the only result of these... delights", a reference to the recurring line "These violent delights have violent ends."
    • Cookie claims to come from "Sesame World", implying there is a Sesame Street-themed Delos-run park.
    • Cookie Monster explains he was looking for cookies but got lost because "this place a maze."
    • Cookie Monster stops himself from prematurely eating the cookie by telling himself to "Freeze all motor functions."
    • White Liquid/Milk makes a recurring appearance in this sketch, with Cookie Monster even dunking his cookie in it.
