Template:Movie Futureworld is the 1976 sequel to the film, Westworld. It was directed by Richard T. Heffron and written by Mayo Simon and George Schenck. The sequel takes place two years after the events of Westworld when the Delos corporation owners have reopened the park.

Plot

Sometime after the infamous Westworld tragedy, the Delos corporation has invested over $2 billion in debugging and extra safety measures. Delos has been rebuilt and guests can choose from a range of theme parks: Medievalworld, Romanworld, and Futureworld. Westworld has been left abandoned.

However, the general public is still wary of the robot rampage, and Delos is attempting to assuage those fears. For publicity purposes, newspaper reporter Chuck Browning (Peter Fonda) and TV reporter Tracy Ballard (Blythe Danner) are invited to review the park. The two soon learn terrible things are still happening at Delos. Instead of problems with androids, Delos is caught dabbling in cloning.

Trivia

  • Futureworld was the first major feature film to use 3D computer-generated imagery (CGI).
  • In 1979 the film became the first modern American movie to achieve general theatrical release in communist China.
