Hey there Reggie, it's been a while. Hope all is well and you're having a great end of the year! Just like to update you about the introduction of Global Taxonomy on Fandom from a couple weeks ago! If you haven't given it a read, basically it'll personalize recommendations a lot better, much like Netflix does with recommended shows and movies. Feel free to check out the blog and let me know if you have any questions!
Hello Reginald, in case you haven't read the Community Central blog from earlier this week, Fandom officially announced the Editor Rewards program. Fandom has been looking for ways to give back to users for the work they've done. Recently they have done things such as buy movie tickets, or offer products from their favorite fandoms. Stay tuned as perhaps you, your co-admins, or other contributors for this wiki may even be eligible!
If you have any questions, feel free to comment on the blog so the Editor Experience team can answer directly.
Additionally, I'm here to let you know that Fandom plans to run a test here starting this week. It aims at improving the search enginge ranking for our communities. Yours and a few other communities have been selected for this test.
Some details: We will be automatically redirecting anonymous users who land on file pages to the first article page that the file is used on. Our hope is that this will help anonymous users (who are usually clueless about wikis) find what they're looking for more easily. During the test, we'll measure whether this has a postive impact on search enginge rankings.
Logged-in users will see absolutely no change, so you may not notice anything of this test - but we figured it's best to let you know, in case anonymous users reach out to you with questions.
Hey Reginald, Editor Experience team would like to run an experiment with a focus module which highlights and concentrates on targeted wiki areas. Would you be interested if West World was part of this experiment?
For example, you can see https://strangerthings.fandom.com/wiki/Will_Byers on the right side, there is a module that says "Stranger Things Wiki needs your help!". When you click "Code Red" a pop up appears which shows pages that could use some focus on editing.
Hi ReginaldDrax, my name is Antonio and I am a Community Manager of the TV/Movies vertical for Fandom. I wanted to introduce myself and see if you need anything, have any problems, or would like to share any ideas you have. As you may already know, our Community Org is changing. From now on our team will focus even more on building closer relationships with the communities, admins, and users.
We are here to support you and help make this community thrive. If you need anything, feel free to contact me or our Wiki Manager directly at any time. And just so you know, Wiki Managers might be more available than me on weekends.
I will be here together to TimeShade -Wiki Manager- for anything you need.
Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope to hear back from you soon! :)
Hey Reginal, just another update like the previous one, if you haven't read the latest Community Central blog post, we'd like to inform you that Fandom has their very own Discord server. Feel free to join and check it out if you'd like. The vanity url is https://discord.gg/Fandom.
Hey there, I'm Marcus, the Wiki Manager for this wiki. I am here to help the community and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. If you ever have a question or issue relating to the wiki, editing, etc., please contact me on my message wall!
I'm a part time contractor for Fandom. So if you encounter issues with coding, or there's a dispute that may need mediating, or need help with designs, you can shoot me a message basically I'm like on site support.
I'm not sure whether or not "Ethnicity" in Infobox/Character is really necessary. I coundn't recall any character's ethnicity were explicitly revealed. Given it's contents (e.g. Caucasian American), maybe it should be changed into "Race & Nationality".
I just thought it would be more consistent with it's usual contents.
For most, if not all characters, we can only determine their races and nationalities based on their names, physical appearances, languages, accents, and what we know about their actors. But we can't determine which precise ethnic groups they belong to or self-identify with.
And I'm not sure human ethnicities apply to hosts, or if the hosts should be considered as an ethnic group in their own right.
Also, on several pages, the "Ethnicity" is inaccurate or unsupported, such as
Clementine Pennyfeather - the ethnicity of Old Clem is listed as Armenian, which is unsupported. There're no evidence the ethnicity of the character is the same as that of the actress.
Felix Lutz - the ethnicity of Felix Lutz is listed as Chinese-American (Hong Kong), which is unsupported. In Akane No Mai, he only said he's "from Hong Kong". It doesn't really indicate his ethnicity.
Kissy - the ethnicity of Kissy is listed as Native American, which is inaccurate. In The Original, the bartender refered to Kissy as "half cornhusker".
Lawrence's Wife - the ethnicity of Lawrence's Wife is listed as Spanish American, which is unsupported. There're no evidence she's Spanish or American.
I just think that "Ethnicity" is kind of ambiguous. But if no one else feels this way, then I'm ok with it.
