  • Hi Reggie, an important update regarding UCP, this community is expected to be migrated soon. Can't give an exact date yet but it would be in the first batches once they resume the migrations.

  • Hey Reggie, hope all is well. How did you enjoy the latest season of Westworld?

I'd like to spark some discussions on what you think of the top navigation. The top navigation is actually one of the most important parts of a wiki. For optimal navigation structure, top level items should give readers an idea what they'd like to find.

Currently the top level items are:

    • Westworld
    • More
    • Yet More
    • Season 3 Portal

With the two in the middle, "more", and "yet more", it may make it difficult for the average reader to find what they're looking for. Especially as the items in each item below have little to no correlation. There is a best practices blog on central offering tips on a good navigation structure.

I'd like to work on you with improving it. Do you have ideas on how to better group the two middle top level items and what content should be below it?

    • Hello OA,

Don't "clean" those up yet please, I'll have a look.

    • Hi TimeShade,

      Thank for your message.

      > orphaned pages

I think most of those are sub pages; linked to from their main pages using <tabview>. The LonelyPages report doesn't appear to recognise the use of that tag and so shows them as orphaned - but actually they are displayed as part of their main page.

There are some genuinely orphaned pages, Admin for instance, Downloads, and a few others. Mostly these were linked to from the Navigation menu and that's what I was originally asking for advice about. I'll be looking at ways to link to them over the next couple of days.

  • hey,

pls check out the interview excerpt i left in Elsie's trivia section -- Shannon Woodward confirmed that, unfortunately, her character's not LGBT

      Loading editor
    • Errmm - she did kiss Clem, on the lips, not a sisterly kiss.

Just read your Trivia entry - nice catch.

I don't think though, that Woodward's the person who gets to decide whether or not Elsie's LGBQ or not by the way, that decision would be the showrunner's. And you notice that scene was cut, removing Woodward's stated motivation for the kiss so it may be that the Nolans wanted it to be ambiguous.

Shame it was cut, that sounds interesting. And I like her comments about it not mattering what sex Elsie is, we really don't see that enough yet.

  • hello, wanted to ask how to create categories (wanted created one for LGBT characters) and how to remove them from a picture. (there are photos of Bernard put in Arnold's gallery, wanted to know how to delete them, can't see any Xs to press)

  • yo Reginald, saw you converting the host character infoboxes to character ones, so we're getting rid of them? should I also start converting hosts to characters? ('cause when i asked for teaching me how to convert, i did the opposite. sorry)

it also seems like the narrative and park slots disappear when an infobox is converted, so RIP Maeve's, Hector's and Armistice's narrative occupations and parks... should i start adding these back or that was intentional?

    • Hi,

Those fields need be added into the Infobox/Character template. The data will show up on the pages then. I'll be looking at that template tomorrow.

I *think* all of the "Host Character" boxes have been switched to "Character" - did I miss any?

  • Hey Reginald,

Could you teach me how to have a host infobox template in an article? I could've copied the code from other infoboxes in Source mode, but I'm afraid of doing something wrong

    • Hi Mampac,

Have a look at Charlotte Elizabeth Hale's page. That's the format I'd like to go with. I'm just adding the host specific fields from Template:Infobox/Host Character to Template:Infobox/Character so that we can use a single Infobox for human and host characters.

    • Mampac wrote: maybe the warning on William's page is tampering with the SEO because it's just a plain text? I've seen real spoiler alert templates on other wikis (can't remember a single example, damn) and they don't seem to break the result, why don't you create a one (like the ones we do have about asking help with editing stab articles in a dark black style)?

Spoiler templates (or otherwise) and quote boxes always tamper with SEO.

  • Hi there,

I thought it'd be better to style Westworld wiki a lil bit like the one about The Walking Dead, since they're both full of deaths; separate paragraphs about deaths give wider understanding of character's demise, so can I ask for a permission to start adding these?

And I also propose to start creating "Killed Victims" paragraphs as well since there are lots of murders in the show!

    Thank you in advance :P

  • Hi ReginaldDrax, I have been receiving a lot of messages in the last months, so I couldn’t answer you before. We have been trying to obtain the status of Official Wiki for this community, but it still on discussion. We have access to press releases and official assets now, but this is limited to Fandom employees with signed NDAs, just like TimeShade (Wiki Manager) and Original Authority (Content Team Member). They will be (especially Original Authority) adding the content to the wiki, based on the analysis of our SEO & content analysts so it will be useful for the wiki at the end.

I have seen you were talking in the last days, that’s great, I like that collaboration between staff and local admins! We want the best for the community and this coordination is key to reach the success.

Original Authority told me you would like to see our competitive analysis and stats. I haven't any problem on sharing all this info, may I send you an email with the docs? Data will be accessible for you because you are admin, but it shouldn't be re-shared with others without permission.

    Greetings

  • Where can I find the template for the Season 3 cast?

      Loading editor
    • Hi GLK,

My mistake, that's an old way of doing things. You can enter the cast details directly into that section of the article.

  • I was trying to renew the Episode template on the main site... well I guess I messed that up a bit. Sorry about that, don't really know how to fix it right now.
