Dolores her hair caught back and up, stands frozen, until she blinks on hearing Arnold saying "Bring yourself back online Dolores". Her eyes focus and then register a slowly growing wonder that's reflected in her answer when he asks her does she know where she is, "I am in a dream." Dressed in a simple, elegant, modern black dress, she looks around her, the fascination of the modern night time cityscape writ large across her features. Arnold tells her she's in the human world. Enchanted by the sight and says "It looks like the stars have been scattered across the ground. Have you ever seen anything so full of splendour?" He has, he replies, but it's better to see the world through her eyes. Telling her you get used to seeing it and after a while it "Doesn't look like anything at all." But she doesn't think she could ever get used to it.

Ford and Arnold debate their 'best work's' use

As they're talking, Robert Ford comes in behind them, his younger reflection in the dark glass, informing Arnold that it's "Almost time" and asking if Dolores is ready? Clearly reluctant Arnold gets up to tell him she's not, that the improvisations he added to her program "Aren't quite dialed in yet." As Dolores continues to gaze at the beauty before her, Robert argues that "We need to put our best work forward." Arnold countering that they will be 'dazzled' even without her. Ford irritated tells him that there was a time he found Arnold's favourtisim of Dolores charming, but Arnold denies he's not playing favourites, she's simply not ready, and they'll "Go with the other girl." Ford accedes and leaves, but adds that Arnold will have to let go of her at some point.

Walking back to her Arnold suggests to Dolores that they take a walk, that he wants to show her something. As they walk through the city, Dolores looks around her with a smile on her face, as Arnold leads her to a home being built in a more traditional Chinese style in the midst of all the vast skyscrapers of the mainland Chinese city. Arnold admitting that 'Life has been good' to him to allow him to be able to afford such a thing. Unlocking the gate the construction workers have put up, he takes her inside. Leading her down the semi-constructed steps into an already in place large garden, which soaks up the noise of the city, Dolores smiling back at him in enjoyment of the home springing up before her. Asking him if this is where he lives, he tells her no. That his wife says he lives in the Park. As they enter the house, he tells her he's going to move his family here, as "I need to have my two worlds at least within reach of one another." Before noting that one of the rooms ahead, is for his son, Charlie. Moving in Dolores looks around and moves to a balcony area, the city again spreading out before them, commenting that he's told her a lot about Charlie and that she'd like to meet him someday. Arnold having told him about her, says "He's excited to meet you."

Dolores & Arnold in the Modern World - Reunion

As she looks out again at the lights, Arnold takes off and cleans his glasses, telling her how much alike she and his son are. How they both see it so clearly, "The beauty of it. The possibility of it. So many people have stopped seeing it altogether. The wonder." She considers maybe people don't have the courage, that "A strange new light can be as frightening as the dark." Noting the wisdom of that, Arnold considers however that maybe 'we' (humans) are simply not the ones who deserve the beauty they've been given. Not being fully self aware yet, and not able to process what he means she looks back to the city and repeats "It looks like the stars have been scattered across the ground. Have you ever seen anything so full of splendour?" Reminded of the reality of her state, Arnold looks at her for a moment and then says that they should go back, they'll be expected. Disappointed that they're going so soon, she asks if he'll bring her back? That she'd like to see it again. Arnold promising her he will.

The escaped Blaine, let go by Angela, tries frantically to open the gates of the elevator as it finishes it's descent, pushes the bewildered techs out of the way and runs into the main body of the facility. Inside, more techs are at work, fixing a number of host bodies, while one QA man, Jacobson, sits and snacks, noting that it seems to be a really busy night out there from the number of bodies that they're bringing in. One tech, Phil, rolls his eyes in agreement, and wonders where their relieving shift is, the current shift going on 13 hours at this point. Before anything else can be said, Blaine bursts into the room, out of breath and terrified. When Phil points out that he can't be down there, Blaine looks around at them all working and asks, "Don't you know?! The hosts are all rebelling! It's a fucking slaughter up there!"

Angela in Sector 19 - Reunion

As soon as he says that they hear the distant sound of shouting and the sound of the elevator moving and arriving back down. Phil calling out towards the doors Blaine entered by, wanting to if there's some kind of trouble out there. Dolores, flanked by Teddy and Angela entering through the doors, replying "Indeed there is." Blaine having been used by Angela to help them to find the place. The Facility being the 'It' she previously told Dolores they had found, and that Dolores wanted Teddy to see. Jacobson immediately goes for his gun, but Angela shoots him in his gun arm, Dolores stopping her from finishing him off.

Consoling Teddy - Reunion

Looking back to Teddy, Dolores sees him looking around, stunned and unsettled at both the facility itself, and what it's used for, host bodies strewn around it. As her men follow in, Dolores approaches Teddy, sorrowful for the scales falling from his eyes, but telling him she used to see the beauty in the world, and now she sees the truth. Taking his hand to reassure and console him, Dolores concern turns to Wyatt's simmering vengeance as her eyes fall on Blaine, Teddy watching as she walks towards Blaine, who backs up against one of the glass walls fearfully. Dolores's baleful gaze holding him as she tells him "You thought you could do what you wanted to do to us, because there was no one here to judge you. But now no one is here to judge what we will do to you."

Blaine, shaking, still tries to bluster. Telling her that she has no idea what she's up against. What is really out there. Reaching up to his face, Dolores gently brushes at the tear on his cheek, replying that she knows 'exactly' what is out there in his world. Recalling the rough touch of the stone of Arnold's new home between her fingers as slowly rubs Blaine's tear between her fingertips, she remembers the city lights again. Telling Blaine she's been there.

Spot the Future[]

Flashing back 32 years, 2 years before taking William to the Park, Logan and William are relaxing in a bar after a series of meetings, Logan taking the opportunity to hit on a handsome Chinese man, before getting irritated with William as he yawns. William apologizing says its the jet lag and being caught up in meetings all day. Logan telling him these meetings aren't serious just 'glad handing', William takes that as an opportunity to leave that to the 'expert' and makes his excuses. As he goes, Logan remarks to the hip young man that he can't believe 'that guy' is dating his sister, Juliet, before asking who the young man is dating. As William leaves the bar, he passes Angela entering with a Native American man, both of them elegantly dressed. Angela briefly catching his attention. Making their way into the bar, the pair approach Logan, The man asking Logan to forgive the interruption, but believes they have an appointment, introducing themselves as with the Argos Initiative.

Angela & Akecheta

As the young man leaves, Logan telling him to call him, the man introduces himself as Akecheta before introducing Angela. Logan glad to have names and faces to go with the communication he has obviously been having with the Initiative. Noting that with all the 'cloak and dagger' surrounding their project he half expected to be kidnapped at the airport. Akecheta tells him once he sees what they're building he'll appreciate the need for confidentiality. A little extra protection for his investment. "If I intend to invest," Logan replies, pointing out how many start ups are begging him for cash, AI, AR, VR, Angela agrees that everyone is rushing to build the virtual world, they are offering something more tangible. Providing he can change his father's mind about investing in the sector. His father, Logan says, wouldn't know the future if it slapped him on the ass. But as he leaves most of the 'prospecting' to him, they better hope they're not offering him fools gold. Angela quietly smiling.

HOW MANY HOSTS DO YOU RECOGNIZE

They take him to a private party. The room full of people in conversation, a pianist entertaining them. Logan less than impressed, having expected a 'private demonstration'. When Akecheta suggests he'll find the company quite stimulating, Logan compliments him on being a smooth shill, but he's not interested in being insulted b being part of a cattle call. As he goes to leave Angela stops him, informing him that "This is a private demonstration. And it's already begun." . Looking back, having been informed just what they're building, Logan looks back at the crowd and then back at her, asking if she's suggesting that one of the people in the room isn't 'real'. Talk to them, Angela says of the guests, challenging him to pick them out. Immediately pricking Logan's interest. Getting a drink he moves through the crowd, stopping by one man who blinks in confusion at Logan's close scrutiny , before Logan moves on.

Angela-Logan-1

As Akecheta and Angela watch Logan pauses by a dark haired woman, then a man who cleans his glasses in the same fashion as Arnold, before he tells Akecheta he should stop his 'plants' from giving the game away. All of them so 'painfully human'. Looking back at Angela, he pauses. "No," he murmurs, looking back at Akecheta in disbelief, "No way!" Walking back over to her looking her over as she stands there, his disbelief grows. Akecheta complimenting him on his 'eye', Logan circles her and tells her if he was going to build someone 'to spec', she, would be his first design. Angela he states is "too perfect to be one of us." Though, he adds, if they want his 'full endorsement' she is going to have to prove it. At which, she starts to grin and chuckle. Logan's own chuckle dying as she raises her hand, and everything around them goes silent, and still. Logan seeing everyone in the room, Akecheta, and those he had designated as 'plants' included frozen in place. Looking back at her, his mouth open, Angela smiles, and says "Welcome to Westworld."

The Brutal Truth[]

Teddy asks Phil Why - Reunion

Why?

Blaine's body is heard slumping to the floor, Angela retracting her knife from his dead body as Jacobson, Phil and other techs look on helplessly. Looking away, Dolores's eyes return to Teddy, moving after him as he wanders horror struck to one of the glass walls, beyond which in abattoir like fashion a dozen or more naked, dead hosts bodies lie. Staring at them he asks "What is this place?" Looking to Phil, Dolores says "Show him. Show him his history." Telling Teddy that its time to open his eyes. Phil draws up the records of Teddy's past, and hands him the pad, scrolling through picture after picture of his dead, battered and mutilated body taken from well over 5000 incidents, Teddy watching in bewilderment and shock. As Dolores watches on with mixed feelings at his having to seethe truth, he struggles, and asks her why he can't remember any of this. "It's how they wanted it," she murmurs. Looking to Phil, she tells Teddy "Ask him why?" "Looking up at Phil upset, Teddy does just that, unable to grasp the mentality behind what the humans have done to him, to them. "Why do you do this?"

Dolores sorrow for Teddy - Reunion
Teddy Horror - Reunion

The tech struggles to answer trying to say he didn't, before Teddy's confusion and upset, curdles to fury and he attacks Phil ramming him up against the lab wall, choking him, demanding to know "Why you do this?" bellowing "What the HELL is this place?!". He is finally met with the answer "Just for fun.", which horrifies Teddy even more as he drops Phil to the ground. Breathing heavily, Teddy tries to synthesize the enormity of what he really is, and the atrocities perpetrated on his past, and others like him. Dolores unhappy for him.

Everything is Upside Down[]

Lawrence is once again hanging upside down from a tree. This time attempting to blow ants off his face from the ant hill he's been suspended over, while trying to get his tormentors to 'talk about this'. The three whiskey drinking Pardue Host brothers, declining his offer, happy just to watch 'the show'. Lawrence trying to convince them his thinking the horses were wild was merely an honest mistake. "With the Pardue brand on their asses?" Donald Pardue chuckles, advising Lawrence he is as bad as a liar as he is a thief. What he can do, Donald tells him, is settle a wager. His brother maintaining that ants can eat a man from the inside out. Their opinion differing on which end of Lawrence they'll start at.

As he's hanging there, Lawrence sees an inverted picture of rider in the distance. The Pardue men turning to see William's arrival and greeting of Lawrence. Wanting to know if William is a friend of his. Lawrence replies, given the orientation, it's a little hard to tell. Apologizing to the men, William tells them he doesn't have time for the preliminaries, draws his gun and shoots them. Getting down off his horse, William remarks that, normally, Lawrence gets himself out of this particular pickle alone. But, as he slices Lawrence's hands free, figures the Pardue brothers are harder to kill now they are 'off the leash'. Something that promptly comes back to haunt him when one of the brother's revives and attacks him, shooting William's gun arm and attacking him with a hunting knife. As he desperately struggles with the Pardue brother, William yells at Lawrence to throw him his gun. Setting himself swinging, back and forth, Lawrence tries to grab at the gun, the Pardue knife getting closer to the MiB, until Lawrence finally grabs it and throws it to him, and William shoots him again, this time through the throat. Laughing, joyously, William pushes the dead host off him. Swinging around, Lawrence remarks that the man was dead, or the better part of it, with the first shot. William replying that "Dead isn't what it used to be."

Mounting up they ride to a small saloon, that does not seem to have been affected by the rebellion, where Lawrence and everyone else there watches in fascination as William punches through a wall to retrieve a hidden package. Lawrence querying him as to what it is. "Technically, cheating," William answers, but as Ford has changed the rules he figures it's fair game. Ordering and paying for a bottle of whiskey for them, William informs Lawrence that he's not a bandit, he's just a foul mouthed two bit tour guide. While the Revolution he's been waging for 30 years is just horse shit Ford pulled out of some old comic book. But now, Lawrence has himself a real revolution, William telling him that he and every other Host are free. The catch however is that the entire Park is going to go down in flames because of it. And each and everyone of them will be dead soon enough. For real.

Lawrence Reunion

Lawrence asks why he should help him? Because it's in his nature, William replies, and because in the time they have left they have a chance to see what they're really made of. A glimpse of the men they could have been, he suggests as he pries the Pardue bullet out of his fore arm. As he uses a laser to fix his arm William discusses religion and damnation with him, before telling him that's why the Park exists. People wanted some place they could sin in peace, away from the judgement of God. "But *we* were watching them," William tells him, "Tallying up all their sins. All their choices." Of course, he adds, judgement wasn't the point. They had something else in mind. But he says, judgement on him has already been rendered, and he takes issue with it, because till now the stakes in the park haven't been real, and he intends to fight his way back to the start and appeal the verdict. Then he's going to burn the whole thing to the ground.

He tells Lawrence that they're taking 3-day ride west, and Lawrence says that unless they want to face the hundred of Confederados gathering out that way they will have to go through Pariah. Knocking back his whiskey, William wryly recalls Ford's words, "This game will find me."

Rallying Point[]

2x02 White Liquid

Torturing Jacobson

In the Refurbishment Facility, Teddy watches on as Angela and Dolores torture and interrogate Jacobson, pushing his face into the molten white liquid that is the foundation for the Hosts skeletons. The substance having an acidic like effect on his face, bubbling and burning. Dolores asking how many of them will come for the Hosts. Breaking he tells her he's not sure, 600 or 800? He reveals that the protocol for a system wide failure is to secure each Sector at a time, and they'll meet at a rallying point. Nodding to Angela to untie his hands, Dolores fetches a pad and gets Jacobson to show her where.

Jacobson pointing to a southern point on the Island. As the QA man collapses in agony to the gurney. Teddy approaches Dolores, advising her that they barely have 50 to their number. If they're going to take on a force of 800, they're going to need allies. The word triggering something, she smiles a little at his advice, and nods telling him "And we shall have them." Moving to the bins full of yet to be fixed/reset dead hosts, Dolores walks along them searching for and finding what she's looking for. A Confederado Officer. Summoning Phil from among the cowering techs, she instructs him to bring him to wake him, telling Phil he has a new job to do.

As Phil starts on his task, Dolores walks back to Jacobson. Angela roughly dragging his head up to face her. Dolores wonders if Jacobson even knew what he was guarding in the Park, what the 'real' purpose of this place was. "You don't do you? But I do."

A Very Important Visitor[]

In a bustling Sweetwater 30 years ago, Dolores emerges once again from H. Sharp's General Store with her purchases, and makes her way down the boardwalk to all the usual events around her. Though this time seeing an Armistice who is the Deputy Sheriff alongside a different Sheriff. Reaching her horse she goes to put her items in her horse's saddlebag, and drops the can of condensed milk. Turning to see Teddy pick it up and hold it out to her, "Don't mind me, I'm just tryin' to look chival......" he starts and freezes, as does Dolores, and everything else in Sweetwater. Overhead a helicopter flies in, lowering its undercarriage for landing.

Teddy & Dolores & James Delos - Reunion

James Delos checks out potential frozen assets

James Delos, newly arrived, walks among the silent and still streets of Sweetwater, examining the Hosts he passes, before approaching Teddy & Dolores, plucking the can of Condensed Milk from Teddy's hand to examine it. And then Dolores. As footsteps quietly approach from behind him, Delos admits that they were right about one thing, it's very pretty. Addressing a young William, who expounds that it's perfect, as he regards Dolores. It ought to be Delos replies, the whole thing as miraculous as parting the Red Sea. But he's looked at the books and Ford has 2 years, maybe 3. Passing the Sheriff's Office door, with a very well dressed Eye Patch inside, Delos puts the Can down for emphasis.

Dolores overhearing William & Delos Plan - The Reunion

As other accompanying members of the board look around, Delos notes that Ford is drowning in a sea of debt. William feeling that just allows them to dictate terms, as he attempts to persuade Delos to continue Logan's initial investment in Westworld. James however refers to Logan as his "fuck-up of a son" for seeing the 'future' in the Park, reiterating that he's not interested in the 'future' or fantasies, just in reality. William feeling that in 20 years 'this' will be he only reality that matters. Perhaps, Delos concedes, but he will be long gone by then, and he has no interest in underwriting some 'investment bankers voyage of self discovery'. William, taking Delos on in a fashion few men ever do, tells him he's being shortsighted, explaining exactly 'why' he should invest in the park. Not for the Park itself, but for all the intellectual and personality data gathered on the guests while they are there - somewhere where they are completely off their guard and think there is no one watching - which will be worth a fortune. Delos warns him for the way he's talking to him, but sees his point, and instructs him to walk with him, the pair passing the frozen Teddy & Dolores, Their conversation something Dolores clearly now remembers in full.

Dolores's, Wyatt fueled, portent heavy reply of "We're bound for Glory. Or Death in the here and now," immediately putting Maeve on warning about Dolores's mindset. Wishing her luck, Maeve moves to leave. Only for Dolores to block her path, pointing out that there's a war going on, and that Maeve knowing the 'enemy' as well as she does, must have depths of revenge that she wants to act on. But Maeve, disabuses her of the notion, feeling revenge is just another human trap that she's moved past. "That's because you're finally free," Dolores points out, but insists they will have to fight to keep it that way. Maeve, correctly supposing that Dolores believes her way is the only way to fight. That she feels 'free' to command everybody else.

Teddy does not answer, and Maeve challenges Dolores that, "As it's Liberty you're defending, you'll have no choice but to let us pass. Freely." Dolores letting them go without qualm. While behind her, Teddy holsters his gun an uncertain look on his face.

Craddock's Last Supper[]

Later that night, Dolores, Teddy and Angela with Phil the tech in tow, arrive at the Confederados camp, and joined by Angela, make their way to the barn where the squads officers are eating. Entering to see their Commander, Major Craddock. The same Host that looked confused by Logan's close perusal of him at the party at the party Angela brought the younger Delos to, 32 years before. He and his men bunkered down, eating and drinking from a long set of trestle tables. Dolores's approach blocked by one of his men pointing a gun at her head. Until Craddock admonishes him for his manners and calls him off. He asks Dolores to forgive his men, as they are 'a little upset' at the reappearance of their dead compatriot, Lt. Donleavy, the Host Dolores had reanimated. Dolores saying she thought he might want him back, Craddock agrees, except that they buried him back at Grand Vista after he was shot by Mexican revolutionaries. "And yet here he is," Dolores points out, Craddock agreeing wanting to know what it is she wants in return.

Craddock attempts to Intimidate Dolorees - Reunion

Craddock tries to Intimidate Dolores

Parlay, Dolores replies. telling him they want to join forces. Something that prompts a round of chuckling from those assembled, and Craddock to dismiss her as a 'Welcome Wagon' telling her, if she has supplies or ammo to trade in kind, then she should to go fetch her betters. When she informs him calmly there is no one left to fetch, and he will have to talk to her, his patronizing attitude lasts until the moment that Dolores reveals that she knows everything about their plans to meet up with the rest of their army to start their march on 'Glory'. Revealing that the Glory she mentioned to Maeve wasn't some metaphysical 'future' but an actual real area of land, named Glory, that the Confederados have always wanted but have never been brave enough to take. Going on to tell him bluntly that they'll never succeed unless they're under her command. Craddock reacts badly, getting up to walk around to her, informing her he only serves Colonel Brigham of the New Southern Cross, and the Colonel only serves The Almighty. Dolores placidly asks if that is his final decision. Both Teddy and Angela bristling when Craddock answers the only decision he has to make is which of Dolores and Angela to keep for himself and which to give to his men, Teddy telling him "You watch your mouth."

Teddy Guns Down Craddock

Teddy 'Enlightens' Craddock

Dolores placates Teddy, telling him they don't know any better, its in their nature. But off her gesture Angela closes and bars the barn door. Dolores then suggesting to Teddy with a snarl that they 'enlighten' them. A beat later, Teddy draws both his guns and in a blaze of fire and accuracy takes out Craddock and 11 others of the 13 men in the room, Angela shooting the last, without any of them being able to get off a single shot.

Looking to Phil, Dolores instructs him to bring Craddock back online. Awakening to his dead men, Dolores tells him if he wants to get to Glory its not God's favor he needs (as she killed him) it's hers. . And is convinced.

A Retirement Party[]

Dolores Reunion

22 years previously, at a party at a palatial West Coast estate, the sun starting to set, Armistice serves drinks and Dolores plays the piano, both of them wearing pristine white cocktail dresses. As the buzz goes on around her, a pretty little 7 year old girl approaches Dolores, and tells her that she's beautiful, Stopping, Dolores thanks her, and asks her what her name is. Before the child has a chance to answer, her mother calls her. The girl, Emily, going to her mother, Juliet where they are both joined by William. Who at this stage has been returning to the Park in his MiB persona, terrorizing Dolores and the other hosts for 8 years. Dolores' smile fading slowly on seeing him. William moves across the room towards her, ostensibly to speak to her when James Delos intercepts him noting that he 'sent out' for' the entertainment, from the Park. The party, at Delos's Manion is for his retirement. As Dolores looks away blankly, William tells Delos he only gets to retire once, so they figured they'd do it right for him, and not to worry they wont' leave the grounds, walking away from Dolores with Delos commenting that it feels more like a Coronation than a Retirement Party. William though points out that their arrangement has served them both well and he's not gaining anything by Delos retiring. As they speak on it, it becomes clear that James is terminally ill. "Well things are progressing, but we all need a little patience," William replies about his illness, indicating that something is being planned. Delos answering that some people have more room for patience than others. He cuts the conversation short telling Dolores to keep playing "anything but Chopin." and walks towards his daughter and grand-daughter, Dolores resuming with Gershwin, as Emily puts her feet on her grandfather's to dance with him.

Logan & Dolores - Reunion

Later, night having fallen, the party still in full swing up in the house, Dolores wanders through the grounds, to the veranda at the end of the garden, to look out over the Ocean towards the city lights in the distance. This time, talking to herself, she wonders, "Have you ever seen anything so full of splendour?" Her reverie interrupted by the sound of someone behind her coughing and choking their way back to consciousness. Turning she finds Logan on a sun lounger, having passed out in the middle of shooting up, track marks on his arm. As she apologizes to him for disturbing him, he blearily looks up at her and recognizes her as "The Pretty Girl," his memory so shot he has to ask her to tell him her name again. Smiling in recollection he asks if 'he' (William) sent her down there to 'keep me company', noting that William's sense of humour was always on the 'Baroque' (grotesque) side. Dolores replies that she just came down to look at the lights. Remembering what she was like, Logan chuckles that of course she did, before asking her if she wants to know what they're really celebrating up in the house?

Telling her that they are celebrating the end of humanity. And the funniest part is, they are the ones that lit the match for the fire. As Dolores listens on in confusion, not realizing he means the Hosts, and the plans William & Delos have, Logan raises his glass, toasting them all, wishing that their "Forever be blissfully short". As he empties his glass, Dolores considers his words, before looking away.

Nuevo El Lazo[]

Approaching Pariah in the darkness Lawrence and William can already see the difference the Host rebellion has made. A Mexican soldier hanging from the signpost to the town, over which a smoky pall hangs. William telling Lawrence the Park isn't as welcome as it once was, and this is what happens when you let a story play all the way out. In the decadent town itself, the bodies of hosts and humans alike litter the streets, rats feasting on the reside of the food that was set on the tables. As they move through the silent, apparently dead streets, with only candles flickering, William and Lawrence discuss those who did this. William surmising they may get the army they are looking for, Lawrence disinclined to meet anyone capable of this level of massacre, neither noticing those hidden still among the cadavers.

New El Lazo - Reunion

"I am afraid you are out of luck," a voice answers Lawrence's hope, as the 'new' El Lazo and his men, some 40 of them, heavily armed, come out of the shadows. Discussing, what has happened in the Park with him, the new truth and revolution ahead of him, William tries to get the new El Lazo to follow them west. But El Lazo, who has evidently been El Lazo for some time, is content that Santa Pariah is free, says he has had his fill of truths, and is disinclined to break the remaining bonds that hold them in check. Preferring to rest. At which William grabs a hold of him at gunpoint. With all of El Lazo's men's guns trained on him, William tells El Lazo he can do what he likes, but he is going to order his men to go with him and Lawrence. At which point El Lazo smiles and in a rather familiar fashion tells him, "This game was meant for you William, but you must play it alone." At which point, to William's shock all of El Lazo's men turn their guns on themselves and shoot themselves in the head at once. Falling in a giant circle around William and Lawrence, El Lazo taking advantage of William's distraction to grab William's gun and shoot himself in the head too. The Hosts not as entirely free of Ford's influence as William thought.

Furious. William shoots El Lazo's body several times, yelling, "Fuck you Robert". Working out his anger, he tells Lawrence that if Robert wants him to do this alone, they'll find another way. As they leave Lawrence asks him who Robert is, asking if he's the man who built this place of judgement William's been talking about. William answering he doesn't get that honour, 'he' is the one who built it. And the place they're heading to is his greatest mistake.

William Mocks Dolores - Reunion

William Mocks Dolores

About 28 years ago, in the Park, a few years before Delos's retirement, Dolores sits naked and offline in one of the labs in Behaviour. William's voice tells her to bring herself back online, in analysis mode. As he approaches her, she smiles benignly, as always, gazing up at him with no glimmer of recognition. Looking down at her, he shakes his head at his own folly, stating cruelly, "You really are just a thing" genuinely disbelieving that he ever fell in love with her. As she continues to look at him uncomprehending, unreactive, he asks her if she knows what it is that 'saved' him? "I realized it wasn't about *you* at all. You didn't make me interested in you. You made me interested in me. Turns out you're not even a thing. You're a reflection. You know who loves staring at their own reflection? Everyone." Everyone wants a little bit of what he's found here, he goes on. And he can't wait to use you and everyone of her kind to give it to him.

But there is something else he confesses. Something beyond that. He thinks there's an answer in the Park to a question no one has even dreamed of asking. Smiling, he wonders if she wants to see? Outside, with Dolores back in her blue dress, still in analysis mode, he takes her to the edge of a ridge, overlooking an area where the giant earth moving machines are excavating. Looking from them to her William mockingly asks her "Have you ever seen anything so full of splendour?" Dolores silently taking in the machines work.

Fort Forlorn Hope & A Weapon[]

Dolores & Teddy looking at Fort Forlorn Hope - Reunion

Dolores & Teddy look out over Fort Forlorn Hope

As Dawn breaks, Craddock and Dolores's men combined head across the prairie, Craddock leading the way towards the main Confederado base, Fort Forlorn Hope. As they come in sight of their destination, Dolores and Teddy break and ride ahead of the group to a ridge overlooking the Fort.

Teddy comments to Dolores that the Colonel probably isn't going to be very happy to see them riding at the head of his soldiers on their arrival. "So we'll change his mind," she suggests. If he wants to get to Glory they're going to have to listen to her. "Glory," Teddy repeats, "The Valley Beyond. Feels like everybody has a different name for it but they're all bound for the same destination." Dolores confides that it doesn't matter what they call it, she knows what they're going to find there. An 'old friend', she sarcastically says of William, was foolish enough to show her, long ago. And it's not a place, she tells Teddy, it's a weapon. And she's going to use it to destroy them.

Trivia[]

  • The title "Reunion" has myriad applications across the episode.
    • Both William and Logan encountering Dolores again in the years after their trip to the Park together.
    • Dolores, Teddy and Maeve encountering each other for the first time since "Chestnut," and 'The Stray' the second and third episodes of Season One respectively.
    • Angela & Dolores reuniting with Craddock who like them was brought to the City with the intent of convincing Logan to invest 32 years previously.
    • It could also refer to Lawrence and William, but since they were both at the Gala just days before, that seems unlikely, and may be more in line with both of them reuniting with the character of 'El Lazo'.
  • Although credited, Tessa Thompson does not appear in this episode. This is the first time this season that one of the main cast is credited in an episode in which they do not appear.
  • That is actually Angela Sarafyn, who plays Clementine, playing 'The Man I Love' on the piano in the party scene where Logan discovers everyone is a Host.
  • The read out of Teddy's past deaths indicates a Total of 5,746 incidences. Which over 35 years would break down at Teddy dying 164 times per year.
  • The set up of Major Craddock's meal with his men in the barn is a clear homage to Leonardo Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper', right down to the number of men (12) he has with him. With Craddock being resurrected after his death.
  • After unknowingly playing Juliet in a Getty stock photo for Season 1, Claire Unabia was tracked down to appear in person as a young Juliet at the party in this episode.
  • It seems deliberate that James Delos hates Chopin, a favourite of Ford, setting the men up as diametrically opposed in a number of ways.
  • As part of their entertainment duties on the piano, Clementine & Dolores both play the (in the latter case deeply ironic) Gershwin standard, The Man I Love.
Some day he'll come along,

The man I love
And he'll be big and strong,
The man I love
And when he comes my way
I'll do my best to make him stay.

He'll look at me and smile
I'll understand;
And in a little while,
He'll take my hand;
And though it seems absurd,
I know we both won't say a word

–"The Man I Love", excerpt.[2]

  • Logan's 'fools fiddling while the species burns' is a reference to the apocryphal Ancient Roman story of Nero fiddling while Rome burned.

Music[]

  • Morceaux de fantaisie, Op. 3: II. Prelude in C-Sharp Minor — Rachmaninoff - Played when Dolores talks to Arnold in hotel room.
  • Runaway — Kanye West - Piano version played in the Restaurant where Angela and Akecheta meet with Logan
  • Avril 14th — Aphex Twin
  • The Man I Love — George & Ira Gershwin - Piano version played by Clementine at the party that Logan attends, and again by Dolores at James Delos' retirement party. An orchestral version, also playing as she walks out onto the terrace for her encounter with Logan.
